Le 12 juillet 1958, les Quarrymen, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lowe (pianiste) et le batteur Colin Hanton, enregistrent, à leur frais soit 13 £ et 6 pence, un disque dans le studio de Percy Philips à Liverpool. Deux titres sont enregistrés, une reprise de Buddy Holly, "That'll be the day" et un original composé par Paul McCatney avec le concours de George Harrison, "In spite of all the danger.
L'enregistrement, un seul disque, restera inédit jusqu'à la parution de l'album "Anthology 1" en 1995.
