Paroles

Now a friend of mine went up to his wife the other day,
While she was chokin' chickens
And he handed her a piece of paper he'd been writing on
And after wiping the blood from her hands and his shirt, she read it
And this is what it said :
For moanin' a lot, 17,5p
For gettin' out of bed this week, 21p
For going to the dogs, 10p
And for playing with your sister when you weren't booking, 25p
For talking a load of trash, 16p
And for getting a good report from the probation office, 26p
And for raking through the garbage for dog ends, 59p
Total owed, 1£ 74,5p

Well, his wife looked a look at the paper
And he could see the anger and frustration flashin' across her eyes
And turning it over
She wrote :
For the nine years I've carried you home, steaming drunk, no chance
For cleaning your suits, when you were BLEEP as a newt??? no chance
For wines and the beers that you've scoffed through the years, no chance
And you add it all up how I feel about you, no chance
For the scars in my head and the state of your bed, no chance
For the tears and the knocks for the smell of your socks, no chance
For your habits I loathe, like picking your nose, no chance
And when you add it all up, the future with me, no chance

Well, when he'd finished reading, he had big old tears in her eyes
Because she'd just stabbed him in the back
And he looked up at her standing there and said
For God's sake, the least you could do is call and ambulance
Then dipping his finger in the blood, he scrawled on the wall in great big letters : Help
And God knows, when you add it all up, nothing plus tax is still nothing

(And when you add it all up, the future with me, no chance)

No chance
