La chanson a été adaptée en français par Francis Blanche et interprétée, sous le titre "La ballade de Davy Crockett" (ou simplement "Davy Crockett"), en 1956 par Annie Cordy, Jacques Hélian et Serge Singer, puis reprise par Chantal Goya (1976), Douchka (1985) et Patrick Simpson‑Jones (1986) … D'autres versions ont probablement été enregistrées.
