C'est avec la complicité de Dagmar que Frank Sinatra se lance dans le Novelty Song avec "Mama will bark". S'il n'est besoin de présenter Frank Sinatra, Eddy Mitchell le décrit très bien dans sa chanson Il faut vivre vite", Dagmar, elle, est née Virginia Ruth Egnor en 1921 à Yawkey en Virginie et est décédée en 2001 à Ceredo, toujours en Virginie. Après avoir travaillé comme soda-jerk (serveuse de fontaine à soda, emploi typiquement américain), elle fait ses débuts en 1944 à Broadway comme partenaire des humoristes Ole Olsen et Chic Johnson. Après avoir débuté à la télévision dans le late-night show "Broadway Open House", elle anime, à partir de 1950, sa propre émission "Dagmar's canteen".
Ce n'est pas Dagmar, mais l'imitateur-humoriste Donald Bain qui fait le chien.
