Présentation : 5 ans après sa formation, Iron Maiden sort son premier opus malgré des difficultés à stabiliser son line-up.
C'est ici Paul Di'Anno qui tient le micro et Dennis Stratton qui occupe le poste de second guitariste.

Issu de ce premier album simplement intitulé Iron Maiden, Phantom of the opera fait partie des nombreux classiques du groupe. Inspiré comme son nom l'indique du roman fantastique de Gaston Leroux publié en 1910, c'est un morceau très apprécié des fans par son côté progressif et ses nombreux changements de rythme.
