Extrait de l'album Street Fighting Years, le morceau a été écrit pour le concert hommage à Nelson Mandela du 11 juin 1988, diffusé en mondiovision pour son 70ᵉ anniversaire en soutien à la campagne internationale réclamant sa libération.
Nelson Mandela sera finalement libéré le 11 février 1990, après 27 ans d'emprisonnement.
